Travel News:
January 27th 2003 | New Sanctions imposed on travel to Zimbabwe for Americans:
Travel Warnings are issued when the State Department decides, based on all relevant information, to recommend that Americans avoid travel to a certain country. Countries where avoidance of travel is recommended will have Travel Warnings as well as Consular Information Sheets on the US department of States website. The travel warning issued on 27th of January 2003 states the following:
This Travel Warning was issued to alert Americans on the political, economic and humanitarian crises in Zimbabwe. The Department of State warns U.S. citizens of the risks of travel to Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe is in the midst of political, economic, and humanitarian crises with serious implications for the security situation in the country. All U.S. citizens in Zimbabwe are urged to take those measures they deem appropriate to ensure their well being, including consideration of departure from the country.
In accordance with the above Travel Warnings issued, Africa Safaris has temporarily postponed all safaris to Zimbabwe and the Zimbabwean side for the Victoria Falls region until the State Department lifts the current sanctions and travel warnings. We are currently working on new routes through Zambia to visit the beautiful Victoria Falls region, which provides a safer alternative. A new section for Victoria Falls will be up soon on Tulipweb.com . If you have any concerns on travel and safety please write to us at info@tulipweb.com
